Kindergarten Art
Clay Dog: Expression before learning
Kindergarten art is really good. It's got a genuine expression that begins to get replaced by all the rules we get taught later on.
It's odd that we spend much of our lives, and maybe a lot of money, on therapists or whatever, trying to get back the ability to express that we started with. Somehow it gets lost in our rules-learning process. It's hard to get back. If we ever do.
This is a family piece that's been around for generations. The best guess is it's a dog, but I'm not sure that's important.
My first piece of clay art was three eggs in a nest. I worked really hard at it so I got to use the gold paint for the eggs. I don't know when this piece of art got lost, but I still remember the gold eggs in the blue nest.
