Cocktail Table: Objects from the past

This thing appalls me, disgusts me. Also fascinates me. It's a 50s side table for cocktails and cigarettes, maybe used poolside. Or maybe it was a beer holding companion while watching fifties TV shows in the paneled family room. TV shows for entertainment, without asking difficult questions or going after deeper matters . I am totally creeped out.

But maybe since the 50s are so far away now, I somehow love it. Like a reminder of damage that made you stronger for having survived it. Eventually you have to love it because it's part of you.
